When it comes to the conventional street hail, cabdrivers are limited by their line of sight. The magic of the new taxi apps is that they allow cabdrivers to see around corners. They let passengers do the same, extending the reach of a taxi hail by several city blocks.

And because many of these services require customers to enter their credit card details beforehand, they render fare beating virtually impossible. These apps also help solve the age-old problem of refusals. If a driver accepts an e-hail and then decides to refuse someone based on destination, race or physical disability, the record of that refusal is digitally stored. No more he-said-she-said down at taxi court.

Silver usually writes on Film Noir. I like the second title better; very gripping. Hitchens socks religion on the jaw. I swear I read this for entertainment purposes only.
